Tehran is willing to reinitiate nuclear talks with Washington as long as it is approached with "dignity" and "respect", Tehran's top diplomat has stated.

The Iranian diplomat declared solely negotiations was effective, and shared recent overtures had been made by intermediaries to restart discussions with the US government. He asserted Iran did not have secret atomic facilities, and Tehran had not yet reached a point to authorize the global atomic watchdog to inspect attacked atomic facilities for protective measures.

Walking a Difficult Route

Araghchi is navigating a difficult course since Iran does not want be perceived to be operating from a situation of disadvantage, and he insisted repeatedly that Iran had come out stronger defensively and psychologically from the coordinated strike on its nuclear sites in June.

He was talking at a defense forum in Tehran where he restated that Iran had "an absolute privilege to enrich uranium on home soil that it will never give up" – the key factor of the impasse in the earlier negotiations.

Previous Negotiations Unexpectedly Concluded

Tehran representatives claimed they felt they had attained a "magic solution" to the enrichment issue in earlier negotiations, when it was settled an Iran-based consortium with US participation could process nuclear material. Each party would have been able to claim victory since home-based processing would have persisted and the US could be assured that Iran's atomic project was solely for peaceful purposes.

It had not been settled in the discussions that Washington's technical specialists could function within Iranian territory, but that was a reasonable assumption of the consortium proposal.
