Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim Trophee des Champions Season-Opening Trophy in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now won the season-opening trophy on 14 different times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown between the French league winners and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring early on.

Yet, the southern French side struck two times late to take a shock advantage. Initially, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital equaliser in the dying seconds to send the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a convincing penalty win.

The record champions Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the 12th time in the last thirteen seasons.
