Vehicles in Germany's City Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Confirm

Officers reported they were contacted by a man who noticed a automobile in Hanau covered with reddish substance

Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.

The liquid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Officers then found numerous other marked cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement report early analysis show the substance was most likely human blood.

"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; authorities are presently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the event," they commented.

City officials said they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the community for tips.

A senior representative said the attack rendered him speechless and had to be solved rapidly.

"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on people of migrant background in 2020.
